2016 – In Retrospection ✨

Like every other year, 2016 also has had its ups and downs, but what’s going to make things better is the fact that we are going to focus plainly on what’s been good this year and take it forward to the next.

I am sharing here a few memorable events of mine, of 2016 with the hope to double the joy in the coming year and to cherish what I have, forever.

  • I met a few of my idols this year – people who I look up to, and derive inspiration from. 💖
  • I got around to co-authoring a book with the amazing Mr. Shashi Tharoor with a few other creative people.💝
  • I completed 2 whole years at work 💃
  • I published my poetry. (Yayayayayyyyy!!) You can buy my books here – on Amazon and pothi.com

That pretty much sums up the best things that happened to me this year.

And here’s wishing all of us lots of hope, sunshine, happiness and success in the coming year.

Let’s look forward to a new 2017, to good will, to beautiful moments and to positivity.

Cheers to a new beginning!

My 30 Day Writing Challenge – Finishing Post 💃

30 days. 30 posts. One blog post a day as an answer to the challenge given.

And it was a refreshing experience. New. And enjoyable. And fun.

I got to explore aspects of me which I wouldn’t have otherwise, I got around to develop patience, enough, to complete a challenge, each day, for 30 days.

In short, I absolutely loved doing this challenge and I’m sure whoever was part of it with me, during this journey, had fun too. I’d like to thank all my fellow bloggers for their constant encouragement and love.

So until I find something equally, if not more exciting, Adios, Amigos!

Day 26 – 30 Day Writing Challenge 💃

An area in my life I’d like to improve.

This one is going to be a bit of a negative post, given the fact that my life right now is pretty drab, dull and boring. There’s a routine I have to follow and I do nothing beyond that. There is no excitement, no adventure, no exhilaration. Nothing at all. Nil. Nada. My health is at an all time low, and the little I earn I spend on books, because, hey, I need something to keep me going and what better than books to keep me company and offer solace.

Long story short, I wouldn’t possibly be able to single out an area in my life to improve, because, each of them is equally incompetent, and I’d like to improve them all.

P.S. This is Day 26 of my 30 day writing challenge

      Day 13 – 30 Day Writing Challenge 💃

      What I am excited about?

What I’m excited about right now or in the near future? Nil. Nada. Nothing. Not anything I know of. I wouldn’t beat around the bush saying “each day is a new opportunity to be excited about” and stuff like that, if I were. I’d be screaming excitement, given the kind of madness I’m made of.

But I’m bored and restless, desperate for adventure.

Right now, my life has become a dull routine, with no adrenaline rush, with nothing to look forward to. I know this sounds negative and disappointing, but I so hope this post brings me the good luck, the excitement, the opportunities, the much longed-for adrenaline rush (I’ve now almost forgotten what it feels like, BTW) and stuff really amazing, to look forward to, each moment in the coming days.

And I’m making a plan right now. More of a chart. About where I am, and where I want to reach, with what I’m doing to reach there.

P.S. This is Day 13 of my 30 day writing challenge

      Magic…

Magic to me has forever been just these two, and trust me, they are both incredibly powerful.

      1. My faith in God. As much as it might sound clichéd, this is one thing that has kept me going all the time. It is because of this faith in the Almighty, that I’m able to sail through hardships safe and sound, every time.

      2. Books. When I read them, I get transported to an entirely different world. And when I return back to reality I am equipped with wisdom, new energy, and lots of hope to help me succeed at whatever I want to. They offer me the solace that I rarely find anywhere else.

      When In Rome…

Yesterday, I read a post on the social media where a girl describes her experience of a walk (wearing shorts) in the park, in a city in India. About the numerous whistles and catcalls she had received. About the difference in attitudes towards a man and a woman.

And here’s what I have to say about it.

One. The Indian society is patriarchal. There’s no denying that. The men are always treated superior.

Two. The exposure. Not every Indian is exposed to western culture. Not every Indian is sophisticated. Not every Indian has crossed the border. Not every Indian has seen variety. Not every Indian is educated and cultured. Majority of the Indian population is orthodox. Is traditional. Is bound by the values of the system he/she lives in.

Three. You can’t talk about Quantum Physics to a 1 year old kid and expect it to understand. Neither can you force it to. It’s stupidity. You can’t force change out of the blue into the society and expect it to co-operate. People understand and evolve with time. Give them the time they require. You can’t always fast-forward things your way. You can’t always have everything your way.

Four. Though I totally believe in being the change I want to see, I also believe in the fact that change actually begins at the grass-root level. Begin by changing the thought-process of your son when he is a kid. Begin by changing the thought-process of your father, brother. Treat your daughters equal to your sons. Because, you and me make the society, and that’s half the problem solved.

Five. When in Rome, be a Roman. It is absolutely good to experience, understand and enjoy new things. But, in the process, try not to lose your identity. Your identity makes you, you.

Share Some Love – My Art For Sale!💃

Hasty to vanquish my “Monday Blues”, I was playing around on the internet looking for something fun to do. And I hit on Cupick and Zazzle to put my incompetent brains to work.

I tried my hand at using my poetry for creating postcard/posters or artwork basically, and have put them up on sale. They’ll make ideal gifts for all occasions, because, poetry is often the best language to express your emotions.

Do have a look and share some love.

My artwork can be accessed below
