In the masterpiece of a movie, which no doubt is, My Name is Khan!

Time For Some Delicious Carrot Pickle 💞

So this is one super delicious dish, which is super easy to make. And I’m sharing the recipe right here, for all of you to make and relish.

Basically I hate cooked carrots, so most of the time I eat them raw or prepare salads. But sometimes salads can be boring – but mind you, I love my salads and can have them anytime during the day, every day of my life. Specially the Mexican Pico De Gallo and our very own Kachumber Salad.

Now for the carrot pickle – it’s not exactly pickle, I’m calling it one ’cause I make it all spicy.

Here are the ingredients – The measure here is for 4-5 medium sized carrots.

      1. Carrots – 4-5

      2. Grounded mustard/mustard powder – 1/2 tea spoon

      3. Gingelly oil/mustard oil ( Based on preference) – 2 tablespoons

      4. Chilly Powder – 2 tablespoons

      5. Salt – 1 1/2 tablespoons

      6. Lemon Juice – 1 tablespoon

Of course the salt and the spice can be varied based on the needs of your taste buds. Also, I prefer gingelly oil to mustard oil.

So wash the carrots thoroughly, and chop them thin and long, length roughly to match the size of your index finger. Put the chopped carrots in a big bowl suitable for tossing, and add all the ingredients one by one. Mix them all together, and keep the mixture closed for like, say, an hour – this is for the flavours and spices to sink into the carrot slices.

After the said time, open the lid of the bowl, and Ta Da..we have our very own carrot pickle ready!

I love having this with almost anything and everything. This is one fine way to make people eat carrots, methinks. Try it, you might just fall in love with it too!

      P. S. Overlook the eversilver paathiram a.k.a vessel 😋

      My Top Twelve Tracks

Time for some amazing, soothing, pleasant music. I’m sharing my 12 top all time favourite tracks – they comprise my go-to playlist, to suit all my mood swings.
I list them in no particular order – I equally love each of them.

Here they are – The name of the song followed by the movie it is from.

      1. Dil Mein Jaagi Dhadkan Aise, Sur

      2. Hosh Waalon ko khabar Kya,Sarfarosh

      3. Nazar Laye, Raanjhana

      4. Aye Sakhi, Raanjhana

      5. Ishq Wala Love, Student Of The Year

      6. Noor ae Khudha, My Name is Khan

      7. Mitra, Band Baaja Baraat

      8. Phir Se Ud Chala, Rockstar

      9. Dekho Raste Mein, Hum Tum Aur Ghost

      10. Mohe Rang Do Laal, Bajirao Mastani

      11. Lamhe Guzar Gaye, Piku

      12. Naina, Khoobsoorat

Words wouldn’t suffice to describe the effect these songs manage to have on me. They bring me bliss, happiness and peace. So, go ahead and try listening to these wonderful compositions, I’m hoping you’ll like them too!

My liking for a particular song is mostly based on it’s lyrics first, voice next, and music last. Though the order changes sometimes. I barely listen to English songs, because I don’t think I can relate to them well.

Well, these are my favourite tracks in Hindi, watch this space for my favourite tracks in other languages 😋

      P. S. Top ’12’ tracks, because, 12 is kinda my favourite number. A ‘Green’ picture because I think green is such a musical, vibrant, fresh color, don’t you?

      For The Love Of Superstar

I wasn’t much of a movie person at all, when I was in school. I was allowed to watch movies very rarely, and the only source I got to watch them, was on the TV – on the DD national. So most of the movies I watched as a kid were only Hindi movies, and they would star either of these 3 actors – Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna or Shah Rukh Khan. (Because they are my dad’s favourites). This practice continued even during my college days, but the number of channels that I was allowed to watch had increased. So I had an extensive variety of movies to watch, all again Hindi.

All the while though, I wasn’t living in a bubble. Because, in the few Tamil channels that were available at my place, everytime a Superstar Rajinikanth’s movie was telecast, every member of the family would finish the task at hand at an amazing speed, and would sit down to watch the movie. No switching of channels during the movie was allowed. No disturbance of any kind was entertained until the movie was over.

When my friends(from outside Tamil Nadu) at work came to know I hadn’t watched many of his movies yet, they were amazed. And I was amazed too, by the amount of their fervour, their love for the Superstar.

But one thing was clear to me, all through. Our Superstar has always the one supremely common thread who kept us connected. Everytime, then and now, his movie is released, it is celebration time for all of us. There would be excitement about the music, the plot, the ticket – booking, but what tops it all is the opportunity for us to see our Thalaivaa on screen again. Such is his charisma. His expressions become our emotions. His signature style, our ultimate swag. His movie, an experience for a lifetime. His fans become family. He is that undisputed uniting factor of the country. He is our Thalaivaa, our Superstar. Our only Rajini.
