To keep an eye on the train of thoughts that chug through your brain in the middle of the night,
They’d be there. Ready to lend an ear and, oodles of absurd insight,
And, oh, I’ll cut to the chase,
You wouldn’t have to travel 30000 metres to see that face –
In your shorts, in the comfort of your room,
In zero insipid vacuum,
They’d be there, staring right across the fluorescent screen at you, to tend to your unseen bruises, to heal your fractured heart,
They’d be there to puncture your fragile ego although you both are a million miles apart.
Long-distance relationships. They’re totally worth the hype, ain’t they?
Because, you get to test the waters while you choose to stay,
And, despite the insecurity the distance might force you to harbor,
Absence, you’d agree, does make the heart grow fonder!
