Heaven on earth – Libraries.

Libraries are my most favourite places. Ever. Heard of kids who bunk their P.T. periods and run to the library? I was one of them when I was in school. So, late last Sunday, one of my seniors had told me the Eloor library at Pondy bazaar was closing down and they’re selling all their books at 50% off. So I decided I’d head over to the library this weekend and see how many books I can buy off from there. So I went over to the place today and actually saw what I felt.
A library closing down is probably the worst thing that can happen to a place. Today is just one week post the announcement, but more than 75% of the books were sold. There were still a lot of people around, searching high and low for their favourites among the remnants of the books that were there, asking, reserving a few books on the shelf so they can drop the books they’ve already picked up and come back again and take these.
So by the time I went in, all of my favourites were already gone. Sold out. I didn’t want to return home empty handed, so I began searching each of the shelves again, hoping I’d find atleast one book that I’d want to preserve, take back home with me. And then I found 2.
A Jodi Picoult best seller and an Enid Blyton classic. ❤
So before anyone else spotted it, I grabbed them both, got them billed, tucked them safely inside my backpack and headed back home, grinning ear to ear, also wistfully wishing I had visited the place earlier.
Eloor Library, you’ll be missed. Dearly. By the millions of books you housed for so many ears. By the millions of readers who visited you to seek solace.

End of rant.

I hoard books for a living. And read them too, when I am not sleeping. I express what I think, so my unheard feelings don't sink. I like to sing when I walk, to keep shades grey, at bay. I speak like a dork, but I don't want to drive anyone away. I write what's real, and nothing fake, so visit my blog whenever you need a break ;)
